FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Answers You Need

WHY A HIGH TIDE PRODUCT?

When you shop here, you are not buying a "SKU" item.  You are buying a unique, handcrafted product that does not have a duplicate.  Likewise, each curve on the pipe is unique, as design decisions are often made on the lathe based on the grain of that particular piece.

5 Year Warrantee on all products.  I know you'll be using a strong, well made product for multiple years to come.  See Warrantee information at the bottom of the page!

WHERE DO YOUR MATERIALS COME FROM?

I typically stock  around 20 different types of exotic wood.  I use wood from all over the world - Sri Lanka, Mexico, Brazil, Western Asia, Iran, Turkey, and of course the U.S.A.

Our proprietary pipe screen filter is also made in the U.S.A.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY PIPE?

There are a few maintenance tasks you can do to make your pipe last... forever.  It's an interesting process & pretty rewarding as well.

  • Occasionally clean the pipe using a pipe cleaner & lint free paper towel.  What to use?  Alcohol of course.  And don't be afraid to use a good rum or tequila.  You can add flavor to your smoke.

  • For the outside, you can routinely maintain it with a lint free cloth (I use microfiber towels).

  • Once in a while, you should rebuff the outside of the bowl with a wood-wax.  This will help preserve the bowl & add a like-new shine.

  • There may be a time when you want to re-finish the outside of the bowl.  Gently sand with 120 then 220 sand paper, and rewax the bowl for protection and the famous "color pop".  If you know, you know.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY CUTTING BOARD?

Do not put your cuttingboard in your dishwasher.  Your cutting board can last for a very long time if taken care of properly.  All wood becomes dry over time, but you can preserve it relatively easily.

  • Do not put your cuttingboard in your dishwasher.

  • After using your cutting board, clean it with only soap and water - scrub well.  You are scrubbing to-be food bacteria.  Dry with a towel immediately.

  • If your cutting board has an odor, you can remove this with lemon oil.

  • There isn't really an answer for how often you should oil your cutting board, but I recommend every month or two - but really as needed.  You will see the color fade, meaning it is dried out.  Use a good quality oil or board cream.  I recommend Walrus Oil for cutting boards.  Ensure it is food safe.

  • I recommend waxing your cutting board after your oil dries.  This helps seal the surface & prolongs the oils' life.

  • Don't be afraid to re-sand the surface!  Hit the dry board with 120 grit sand paper, then 220 grit sandpaper.

  • If gunk is stuck in the juice grooves, try and scrub out with a scouring pad.  For resurfacing, you can use a pencil with 120 grit sand paper around it to remove foreign objects.

  • Do not put your cuttingboard in your dishwasher.

HOW LONG DO YOUR FILTERS LAST?

Like any tobacco pipe screen / filter, they do not last forever.  It is a consumable, and you replace as needed.  Using my proprietary filter extends your bowl's life to essentially forever, with proper maintenance.
